Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is August Wilson’s second installment of his Pittsburgh Cycle chronicling Black life decade-by-decade. The story takes place in 1911 at a boarding house. Each denizen of the boarding house has a different relationship with slavery in the past and the urban present.
