POOCH HALL, TERRELL CARTER, TEISHA J. LOTT, AND JEFFREY LEWIS HEADLINE STAGE PRODUCTION AT CHRIST UNIVERSAL TEMPLE ON SEPTEMBER 12
CHICAGO, IL – Audiences will experience an evening of powerful storytelling, emotional honesty, and unforgettable performances when After the Morning After takes the stage on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 7 pm at Christ Universal Temple, 11901 S. Ashland Avenue in Chicago. Doors open at 6 pm.
Written and produced by Tracie Armour-Adetunji and directed by Donald Gray, After the Morning After follows four lifelong friends whose bond began on the first day of college. Despite coming from vastly different socioeconomic, familial, and emotional backgrounds, each man rises to professional success while privately navigating unresolved trauma, expectations, and mental health challenges. Through moments of humor, heartbreak, and hope, the play shines a spotlight on the importance of vulnerability and emotional wellness among men.
The production features an accomplished cast led by acclaimed actor Pooch Hall, alongside singers and actors Terrell Carter, Teisha J. Lott, Jeffrey Lewis, Claudette Ortiz, and others.
“This story is about brotherhood and what happens when men decide to stop suffering in silence,” said Pooch Hall. “Everyone has faced struggles, disappointments, and moments when they wondered how to move forward. After the Morning After reminds us that healing is possible and that resilience is built through relationships, honesty, and grace.”
According to director Donald Gray, the production addresses timely issues affecting friends and communities while delivering an entertaining and relatable theatrical experience.
“After the Morning After is more than a play, it’s a lived conversation,” Gray said. “We wanted to tell a story that reflects the realities so many people face but are often reluctant to discuss. These characters represent fathers, husbands, and friends who are learning that strength is not found in hiding pain, but in embracing healing. I believe audiences will laugh, cry, and ultimately leave inspired.”
