Javon Carter is a Portland native whose heart and soul have been woven into music for as long as he can remember. His musical journey began at just four years old behind a drum kit, quickly flowing into vocal performance at age five. Over the years, Javon has cultivated a rich, versatile vocal styling that moves effortlessly across genres—spanning classical, gospel, R&B, and jazz.
Whether captivating listeners with soulful ballads or intricate, jazzy melismas, his vibrant expression and dynamic presence bring a deep warmth and resonance to every stage he touches. Along the way, his talent has taken him to incredible stages, from opening for renowned artists like SZA and Lyfe Jennings to sharing the stage with legendary icons like ZZ Top—milestones that continue to shape his artistic journey. While those moments were unforgettable, nothing quite compares to the sacred, uplifting space he finds every year in Black Nativity.
Celebrating his 5th year as a cast member in this year’s production, Javon is deeply honored to gather with this ensemble once again.
